Instrumental Music

Students at the fourth grade level and above are eligible to enter the orchestra program. Instruction for band students begins at the fifth grade level. Both beginning programs commence soon after the opening of school in the fall. Previously enrolled students who have advanced beyond the beginning level are contacted during the first week of school as to the schedule for lessons and group rehearsals. Transfer students should contact the instrumental director at the school to arrange auditions to ensure proper placement in the program. Rehearsal schedules for the various performing groups are announced by the directors in September. Beginner groups are organized as soon as the students have attained skills appropriate for ensemble playing. Parents are responsible for transportation of students to rehearsals.

Following morning rehearsals, the district provides a shuttle to other district schools.

This Year's Presentation:

We are deep into preparation for the opening of our Fifth Grade Musical, Midnight in the Library. Our students are learning lines, choreography, blocking, painting scenery, pulling together props and costumes and all around working like crazy to make our performance the best ever. As I am sure you can imagine, many hands are needed to put a show like this together. There are a lot of opportunities for parents to participate in the excitement as well.
